August 27, 2013, Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, Russia. During the first day of the International Space and Aviation Salon MAKS 2013, Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (LPI RAS) acting as subcontractor of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INASAN), and e2v company (UK) entered into the contract on the delivery of UV range detectors for WSO-UV project. These detectors will be used in one of the major instruments of WSO-UV - WUVS spectrographs. Barbara Habberjam (Minister-Counsellor for Economic Issues, UKTI British Embassy, Moscow) took part in the ceremony of signing.
March 23, 2013 marks 30 years since the launch of the Soviet space astrophysical observatory Astron.
Astron played an outstanding role in the history of domestic extraterrestrial astronomy - it became the first Soviet automatic astrophysical space station, the first that was specifically designed for high precision astrophysical observations.
